Is Feather Wallet Safe?
Yes. Feather is an open-source, Tor-by-default desktop Monero wallet with multi-year track record in the privacy community.
Feather Wallet is open source, non-custodial, Tor-by-default, and has been in active development since 2021. The primary maintainer (tobtoht) is well-known in the Monero community. The wallet has been used widely without significant security incidents.
Feather runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Tails OS. The code is public and has been reviewed by privacy-tech contributors over years.
What makes Feather notable
Tor by default. Unlike most wallets, Feather routes all network traffic through Tor without configuration. New users do not have to remember to enable it. This protects against the common privacy-coin failure mode where the chain is private but the user's IP address is observable.
Lightweight. Feather uses the remote-node model (it does not download the full Monero blockchain). This makes it fast to install and light on disk. The trade-off: the remote node sees which addresses you query (mitigated by Tor by default).
Tails support. Feather is one of the few wallets actively packaged for Tails OS, the privacy-focused live operating system. For users with serious operational security requirements, this matters.
Community trust. Feather has been recommended by Monero-community privacy advocates for years. The track record is part of the safety story.

- Avoid mirrors, archive sites, and third-party download portals.
Different chain, similar posture
Feather is for Monero. We are not competing on Monero — Zano Wallet does not support XMR. If you specifically want the Zano chain with its different feature set, Zano Wallet is the desktop way to use it. Same posture: open source, non-custodial, single publisher domain, no signup. Different chain, different features.
